Remember the space age?

Yes, I have a soft spot for all things retro NASA. This startling vintage footage, the Apollo 16 lunar rover “Grand Prix,” is another reason I write science fiction for 9 to 11’s. The humans who are going to bring us to new planets are children today, or children of our children. My generation had the original space program, but what did today’s kids have? NASA has an ambitious program for exploring Mars, the planet that’s the subject of my novels. But looking back at this 1970s footage, I think we all believed we’d be a lot more advanced than we are. Science fiction has an inspirational role to play.
